Top Five New Developments in the DMV

2020 has been a very rough year and we still have 3 full months left. For this blog entry, we wanted to talk about the DMV and its renewal through Development projects.

Here are the Five Best Development projects going on in DC right now.

1. Union Market- 13098 Fifth St N.E.

Union Market is a revitalization of 600k SF of marketplace property and mixed-use properties. The market is thriving, but still to come are a 42k SF Angelika Film Center and four additional stories of either office or residential space. In a later phase 2022, the area around the market will also include a 400k SF mixed-use building including retail, entertainment, office/residential space.

2. NewCityDC – the property is located at the intersections of NY Ave, Montana Ave & Bladensburg RD

NewCityDc is a 15-acre parcel of land that used to be the site of the old Hecht’s Warehouse and Love Nightclub. The development will include 550k SF of retail, a 108-room hotel, 200 apartments, and a 2,800-space parking lot. The project is hoping to secure retail anchors such as Wegmans or Wal-Mart, with several smaller stores and over a dozen restaurants.

3. Market Terminal – Between 300-350 Morse Street

The developer plans to build two residential buildings with a total of 571 units at this site near Union Market, as well as a 10-story 212k SF office building and 45k SF of retail on the two buildings’ ground floors.

4. Eckington Place – Eckington Place & Q Street N.E.

Just around the corner from Gallaudet University’s Eckington Place will feature 695 residential units in four connected buildings, up to 77k SF of retail and underground parking space.

5. Edgewood Development – Located at Michigan Ave and Irving Street NE.

Plans call for a dual flag Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott with 168 rooms each, a 40k SF conference center, 26k SF of additional space for a hotel, and a glass walkway linking it with a 600-space parking garage.
